27th May 2006
Since RVRA’s letter to Gosport Borough Council opposing the Planning Application to install 9 x 0.3m Transmission Dishes and Ancillary Equipment on to Livingstone Court Roof, we have been informed today that Vodafone have now withdrawn their application. We have received confirmation from Gosport Borough Council that as a result of a failure on the part of the agents for planning application to conduct certain pre-application consultations, the submission has now been withdrawn.
They do however, anticipate that in due course a new application will be submitted, but GBC say that they will ensure that any such future proposal will be publicly advertised in accordance with standard procedure and that any opposition will require written comments.
GBC also note our comments in respect of the location of the site notice and they shall try to make sure that a more visible location is used on future occasions.
If anyone wishes to discuss the matter further, please contact any RVRA Team Member.
22nd May 2006
RVRA, along with a number of other residents and Councillors Champion and Champion have been invited to attend a meeting with Labyrinth Properties Ltd in order to discuss the future Management of the site and the Service Charges that need to be collected in the future. This meeting is to take place on Monday 5th June 06. If anyone would like to forward any concerns or complaints to Labyrinth via RVRA, please do so and we will be happy to bring up the subjects at this meeting where possible. The outcome of the meeting will be addressed on this web site as soon as possible.
12th May 2006
Last night RVRA attended a Rowner Vision Steering Group meeting which was held at the Nimrod Centre.
Discussing the articles in the News with regards to demolishing and rebuilding our homes, Michael Lane and David Miles informed the floor that although there had been discussions with regards to The Village, no definite plans have been decided. If and when there is a plan on the table, then the residents would be the first to know and discussions with residents would then take place.
RVRA said that we had been informed by other residents that a London based company were purchasing a large number of flats through Fox and Sons. Michael Lane was aware of this and confirmed the information. He also pointed out that the person who was purchasing these flats was in the room and asked if she would like to identify herself.
Suzan Veale identified herself and confirmed that it is she who is purchasing flats in The Village on behalf of her company. As featured in The News on Thursday 11th May 06, she is a director of a Property Company White Mid Sloan Ltd, which is based in London. She said that she has already bought 20 flats in The Village and intends to buy as much as she can, to let.
Michael Lane asked residents if they would like their ward Councillor Nina Champion to organise an open meeting with Labyrinth Properties to discuss matters further. The residents agreed and we now await Nina to advise us of a date and time for Labyrinth Properties and residents to meet. As soon as this is confirmed, RVRA will inform residents on this web site.
In the meanwhile, if you have any worries and would like to discuss this topic further, please call RVRA or email us through our contacts page.
5th May 2006 LOCAL ELECTIONS
As you know, there has been local elections nationwide which took place yesterday. RVRA would like to inform residents that the results for the Grange Ward are as follows:
The turnout for Grange Ward was 19.7%
RVRA would like to congratulate Paul on his success and look forward to working closely with him as well as his wife Nina in the future.
4th May 2006 THE VILLAGE REDEVELOPMENT
As residents would have seen in the local News and on the local television news, it has been reported that The Village is set to be demolished and rebuilt at a cost of more than £100 million.
The Landlord may have no choice but to comply with a special compulsory purchase order, leaving the site being handed over to a private developer to rebuild.
Gosport Council have been in negotiations with various Government Departments for some time. It is also reported that initial Government funding of around £10 million will be announced next month, but as yet there is no confirmation on this.
We are led to believe that the Council are negotiating with Housing Associations to manage the estate once completed.
If confirmed the entire redevelopment is expected to take around five years, although there is no start date as yet.
